Trusted HP Monthly Update
Dr. Marguerita Jackson, Trusted's Chief Medical Officer has been involved in providing needed medical services to DC residents for the past 40 years. She came to Trusted with a vision to proactively address
disparities in health care, including cancer, hypertension, diabetes, prenatal care and HIV/Aids prevention and management. What she found is that socioeconomic factors, including poverty, substance abuse, inadequate housing, illiteracy and immigration status all contribute to boomerang illnesses, over-utilization of the emergency room and unnecessary re-admissions into health care facilities.

OVERWHELMING DATA ON AFRICAN AMERICANS AND MAJOR HEALTH INDICATORS.
We are proud to report that the Health Fair held in partnership with United Medical Center, and in collaboration with the Medicaid Managed Care Organizations - Amerihealth Mercy, MedStar Family Choice, Health Services for Children with Special Needs, and the District Department of Health Care Finance and Department of Environment was a unqualified success!
Over 2500 people attended and over 100 health screens, tests and consultations were done.

the number of THP members engaged in
active case management.

Enhances Member's Nutrition
Healthy eating is an integral part of a healthy lifestyle and healthcare
providers know that people with chronic medical conditions can see health
improvements when their diets are improved. To help THP members see such
health successes, THP staff have worked with DC community partners
THP Recognized at MHPA
Last month, I served as a panelist at the
Medicaid Health Plans of America (MHPA)
national conference and shared THP's
accomplishments in member outreach and
health services. MHPA President Jeff Myers
called the approach "fresh" and invited me to
get more involved with the organization.
